This is Val’s seventh year as the CHS varsity head coach. During her first year as coach the CHS cheerleaders qualified for states for the first time in over 10 years. In 2014 the team qualified and participated in the High School Cheerleading Nationals in Orlando, Florida. This was also a first for CHS.
Val received her Masters in Elementary Education and is currently working at an elementary school in Wellesley. In 2010 Val graduated from Assumption College with a major in History and minors in Education and Human Services and Rehabilitation. Val traveled to Daytona, Florida with the Assumption Cheerleaders and competed in the NCA Collegiate Cheerleading Nationals for 3 years. During her college years she also cheered for East Celebrity Elite (previously East Elite) and placed 2nd in the NCA All-Star Nationals held in Dallas, Texas. That year her team also received a bid to the Cheerleading Worlds.
Prior to college Val attended Canton High School (class of ’06) where she was part of the varsity cheerleading team for 4 years and served as captain her senior year. In high school she coached Canton’s pop warner cheerleaders and coached with the Canton Recreational Gymnastics program during the summers. During Val’s senior year of high school at the Universal Cheerleading Association camp, she was awarded the “queen jumper” award, the all-star cheerleader award and was asked to try out to become a UCA staff member. She took that opportunity and made UCA staff. Val’s background also includes competitive gymnastics and competitive dance, specifically acrobatics.
